CRTT July 4th (well, 3rd this year) Bike Ride to Fort McHenry

100+ riders of all ages and abilities participated in the 2019 Bike Ride to Fort McHenry. This year’s ride will be on July 3rd.

What better way to celebrate Independence Day than with an early morning bike ride to Fort McHenry on a guided bike ride with over 100 of your fellow Catonsville residents. The bike ride will be held on July 3rd this year. Don’t forget to wear festive holiday wear and decorate your bike.

This is a casual ride at approximately 10-12 mph. Helmets should be worn. Parents should consider distance and conditions of ride to determine if age appropriate for child’s endurance and strength. No one is left behind. The bike ride is free but a $10 suggested donation to Catonsville Rails To Trails is appreciated. To read more and register…..

Multiple Trail Projects Slated for 2021

Catonsville Rails To Trails (CRTT) is a 501 (c)3 non-profit that promotes pedestrian/bike friendly initiatives in the Catonsville area. Our volunteers maintain 3 miles of woodland trail while developing new trails. Here’s a sampling of the current projects.

CRTT Connection Project – Mellor Ave.

Connecting the Mellor Ave. Trail to Bloomingdale Ave.

A new “boardwalk” portion of the trail has been added to the Short Line Trail behind Catonsville Elementary School. CRTT has received $100,000 to continue this boardwalk to Bloomingdale Ave.

Cycling Pocket Park – CRTT Trailhead on Frederick Rd.

CRTT is planning a pocket park in this 35′ X 35′ area next to Bill’s Music House. CRTT has raised $4,000 from the Patapsco Heritage Greenway for this project but needs to secure $17,000 more. The park will have bike racks, benches and landscaping. A historic railroad crossbuck which was originally on the Short Line Railroad will be returned to this railroad park..

Spring 2021 Trail Clean Ups A Success!

CRTT did not hold clean up events in 2020 and our trails needed a good cleaning in 2021. Many thanks to the 221 volunteers who worked over 550 hours to get the trails in shape for spring and summer.

CRTT does not hold clean ups during the summer/fall months due to heavy vegetation containing poison ivy. Trail clean ups will resume in October, 2021. Watch for details!

Delegate Pat Young assists other volunteers in hauling debris to the dumpster.
