Catonsville Junction Circa 1950

The mural is a testament to our community’s artistic talent and spirit. Local artist Edward Williams and a team of dedicated volunteers painted it. Mr. Williams, a renowned muralist in the Mid-Atlantic region, has painted dozens of murals in Catonsville, including the large mural along Bloomsbury Avenue, Doozy’s Diner’s, Welcome to Music City, the Paradise Bus Loop, the Shady Nook Train, and the bench at the Post Office.

Streetcar Driver is depicted as Ed Griffin, a generous donor and the owner of Catonsville Automotive.

7-Eleven Logo – This logo never appeared on a Baltimore streetcar.  CRTT added the logo as a grateful tribute to the property owner.

Couple in the Window – Dr. Bob Irwin, former chief of pediatrics at Bon Secours Hospital, established the Pediatric Center in Catonsville in 1973 and was beloved by generations of Catonsville children.  Bob and his wife, Marjean (Cashman) Irwin, lived on Overhill Rd. Marjean was a mural artist and contributed to the Berley Roberts mural landscape.

The woman on the Porch is Maureen Sweeney Smith, co-founder of Catonsville Rails To Trails. She and her dog, Skeeter, sit on the porch of an “in-law” house facing the trail.
